Larry McKee, 70, of Kuna, died Sunday August 2nd at home, surrounded by his family, following a brief illness. Larry was born January 4, 1945 in Nampa to Edward and Lydia Mautz McKee.
Larry attended Nampa schools, graduating from NHS in 1964. He married the love of his life, Vicki Hillyard on Aug. 20, 1965. They were blessed with two children, Debbie and David.
Larry was a hard worker throughout his life and was an accomplished fixer upper, both mechanically and in construction/woodworking. Together he and Vicki remodeled and extensively added on to two homes.
Larry joined the Idaho Air National Guard in 1965, and completed his 6 year enlistment. During that time he worked for Armour and Co in various departments, the last being in maintenance and electrical. Before ending his employment with Armour's he reenlisted in IANG, eventually returning there full time as an Aircraft Mechanic. He deployed several times to Saudi Arabia and Turkey to support the no fly zones. Larry retired from IANG in 2003 and devoted the rest of his years to his 40 acre farm.
Larry was an avid big game hunter and cherished the time he spent with his kids each Oct. and Nov. hunting Elk and Deer. This two week period in the fall and a week camping and 4-wheeling in the summer were the only vacation times he allowed himself. Larry was a member of the Canyon County Mounted Sheriff's Posse for several years.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Edward McKee and Vicki's parents, Vic and Bibiana Hillyard. He is survived by his loving wife Vicki; mother Lydia Mckee children Debbie (Tom) Shearn of Caldwell and David (Yvonne) McKee of Melba; his adoring granddaughters Kali and Riley Shearn, step grandchildren Guy (Maryia) Follett, Corissa (Zach) Haas, Kelsey and Heather Shearn; siblings, Carol (Rod) Berheim, Claude, Loren (Debbie), Russel, Laura (Sam) Martin; and a special cousin Jackie (Tom) Benson.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, Aug. 10, 2015 at the Nampa First Christian Church, 619 12th Ave. So., Nampa.
