IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Laverne
Clark
October 29, 1941 – November 24, 2025
Applais LaVerne Clark entered into her eternal home on November 24, 2025, at the age of 84. She passed away peacefully and ready to meet her Lord and Savior and all her family in Heaven.
She was born in Little Rock Arkansas on October 29, 1941, to Thomas Jefferson (T.J) Hughes and Virgie Leona Hughes. She was the 3rd girl in a family of 4 girls. They resided in England Arkansas throughout most of her school years, then went to Tulsa, Oklahoma for a short time.
She then traveled to San Jose, California where she married her first husband Bill Burkhead. She then later met and married, Thomas D Clark when they met at the Ann Darling Bowling Alley in San Jose. Tom was very smitten with LaVerne after seeing her and threatened his friend who he was with at the time, not to ask her out because he wanted to date and marry her! They were later married and resided in San Jose, California with their children Sandra, Darryl and Janice until 1969 when the family moved from there to Nampa, Idaho. LaVerne had said that California was getting "too crazy" to live there anymore and since Tom had a new job opportunity at Boise Cascade there, they were eager to leave!
They purchased land south of Nampa and Tom began to build LaVerne her dream home brick by brick! Later they welcomed their 4th child, Thomas Daniel Clark to the family. LaVerne held several jobs to help the family which included The Bon Marche', Everton Mattress Factory and working as a bus driver for Brown Bus Company, but she loved being a Homemaker most of all.
When the children were older, she later got her nursing certificate and was a Unit Secretary in the Care Unit at Mercy Medical Center. She loved her job there and all the people and retired shortly after Tom in 1993 from there.
After retirement they bought a 5th wheel and began their traveling years, going on camping trips and spending the winter in Arizona with family members and friends. They loved being together, enjoying life and you would always find them together! Tom & LaVerne shared 61 beautiful years together and resided in the house he built until Toms death in May of this year. Mom and Dad did everything together and LaVerne missed him so much, she found it difficult to cope without Tom.
Tom and LaVerne were members of Lakeview Bible Church in Nampa where they met many special friends over the years there who they often spoke fondly of.
LaVerne leaves behind his 2 daughters Sandra Schrock (Dale) from Nampa, ID, Janice Daniels (Jeff) from Pasco, WA, and Dan Clark, Elko, Nevada, 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, her sister Mary Kaufman of Arkansas, and several nieces and nephews in Arkansas and Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas D Clark, her son, Darryl Burkhead, from Oklahoma, her Momma and Daddy, T.J. and Virgie Hughes, her sisters Dorothy Childress and Margaret Justice, all from Arkansas.
