LC Simpkins, 89, of Nampa, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at a Nampa retirement center. He was born on February 19, 1922 in Mountainair, New Mexico, the son of Payton and Daisy Simpkins. In 1928 his family moved to Marsing, Idaho where he was raised and educated, graduating from Marsing High School in 1940. He was enlisted into the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served during WWII in the Naval Air Transport Service. He served in the South Pacific area in Noumea, New Caledonia and the New Hebrides.
He was discharged from the Navy in 1946 and worked in Oakland, CA where he met and married Eunice Emery on September 20, 1947.
LC owned and operated an Automotive Machine Shop for several years in Yreka, CA and also in Medford, OR. They moved to Idaho in 1976 and spent their retirement years in Nampa. They were members of the Nampa Church of the Brethren.
Eunice preceded him in death on January 14, 2011.
He is survived by two sons, William Simpkins of Bend, OR and Stephen Simpkins of North Bend, OR; two grandchildren, John Simpkins and Sara Simpkins; a brother, Linnard Simpkins of Skamania, WA; and a sister, Lueciele Robbins of Marsing.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Lester, Leo, Larry and LZ and one sister Grace Swinney.
The family will greet family and friends at a viewing on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at the Parkview Cemetery in New Plymouth and a memorial celebration of his life will follow at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Nampa Church of the Brethren.
