He worked at the Caldwell post office for 4 years. He then continued to farm with his mom and dad until he met the love of his life in the grain field. They had gone out to combine a new customer, neither one knew that the fathers started bragging about their son and daughter. The young lady drove truck and drove down to field to see why they were not combining. The father looks up and says, you must be Darlene. Darlene this is my son Leonard, and he is not married, and I hear you are not married. She was so embarrassed and walked out of field and Leonard says dad. They started talking later that day in field when Leonard asked her to ride in the combine with him. They considered that their first date love at first sight and within 6 months they were married on Dec. 6, 1975. They bought a Boise Cascade Home and put it on the property Leonard owned. They had 5 daughters, from 1977 thru 1984, Melissa, Becky, Kimberly, Angie, and Jennifer. After retiring from combining, he worked at Darigold, Sorrento Cheese, Custodian at Middleton School District. He drove school bus for Middleton for almost 12 years. He was EMT for Middleton for 10 years during 1980 to 1990. He took his family camping, went to their ball games. Leonard loved to bowl and play golf with his wife Darlene. He loved to play cards and Cribbage with his sisters. He attended Canyon Hill Nazarene Church. After he was diagnosed with cancer in April of 2019, Leonard and Darlene decided to go on a 5000-mile cross country trip with their new Jeep Compass. They went to see Leonards sister and brother-in-law in Michigan. They covered lots of states. The most exciting was going to Nashville and going to the Grand Ole Opry. They went to Branson, Missouri to a show and Kentucky to see the Ark and to Detroit to see Detroit Tigers play the New York Yankees.
