Obituary

LeRoy Robert Arehart, 65 of Nampa, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2013 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born October 3, 1947 in Loup City, Nebraska to Lester (Joe) and Rosalia Schmidt Arehart. He joined two sisters and was followed by a younger brother three years later. His family were farmers in Nebraska and LeRoy was raised and educated there until they moved to Nampa, Idaho in March 1960. LeRoy attended school at Lincoln Elementary, West Junior High and Nampa Senior High School graduating in May 1966. On October 12, 1966, he joined the Air Force as a specialty jet engine mechanic and did his basic training is San Antonio, Texas. After basic, he was stationed in Chanute Air Force Base outside of Champaign, Illinois. He was later stationed at Hill Air Force Base outside of Ogden, Utah. He then attended 13 days of training on J85 jet engines at Clinton County Air Force Base (a National Guard Base), and was then stationed at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. During his training he attended many classes on jet engine repair. LeRoy was honorably discharge from Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California as a Sergeant (E-4) on May 31, 1970. He later joined the Air National Guard Reserves in December 1973 as a sergeant and was honorable discharged five years later in 1978 as a Staff Sergeant (E-5). LeRoy married Linda Lawrence in March 1968 and to that union was born a son, Robert Dale in February, 1970. LeRoy and Linda were later divorced. LeRoy was employed as a lead man by Kits Trailer Factory in Caldwell from 1970 to 1974. On April 29, 1974, he was employed as a warehouseman at the Terminal Ice and Cold Storage (later named Americold). He worked various shifts; day, graveyard and swing for the next 30 years, before retiring on April 1, 2004. LeRoy married Dorothy (Frankie) Mosley on September 30, 1976. With this marriage, LeRoy gained four additional children; Christina, Rodney, Brenda and April. On November 25, 1992, LeRoy adopted Brenda. He loved hunting trips with family and with his four-wheeler. His newest passion was his hobby of panning for gold. He loved being outdoors and with family. He had a great sense of humor, but was also hardworking and driven. LeRoy did everything with a passion from working to panning for gold to spending time with his family, especially his wife, Frankie. He loved to dance and was a member of the Eagles Aeries 2103. LeRoy is survived by his wife, Frankie; sons, Robert Arehart and Rodney Blackburn and daughters, Christina (Derek) McDaniel and Brenda (Bruce) Walden; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol Carroll (Lyle Clausen), Mary Jo Ames and a brother Terry (Cheri) Arehart. He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter April. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Nampa.
