Leslie Wayne "Chub" Wood, 74, passed away Friday, Oct. 12, 2012 after a short battle with cancer. Chub was born June 21, 1938 in Adrian, Oregon to Wayne and Vera Wood. He was the middle of three boys. His early years were spent in Canyon County. He attended schools in Notus and Caldwell. Chub joined the Marine Corps in 1956 and was discharged in 1959. He married Patricia Graham in Dec. 1959. They had two living children, David and Tammy Wood.
Chub worked as a fireman in Caldwell a few years and then worked 38 years for the State of Idaho/USDA Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Inspection. He retired as a District Supervisor in 1995. In 1974, Chub married Dona Nichols. Between them they raised 6 children.
Chub enjoyed many hobbies and really got into each of them from riding and chasing wild horses to coaching and watching the boys sports; He started a golf club repair business and loved to play the game. Later he spent his time bass fishing enjoying every trip. He dearly loved his kids and grandkids He taught them all with his teasing sense of humor, while trying to coach them about life as well.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia, a daughter, Dawna Lynn, a grandson, Murphy Nichols, and his mother and father.
He is survived by his wife, Dona, a son, David (Marje) Wood, daughter Tammy (Tim) Karren, four step children; Lori Ozzello, Curt Nichols, David (Toni) Nichols, and Jerry (Suzanne) Nichols: 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
At his request no funeral services will be held. He will be interred in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell. Arrangements are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel.
