Lila 'Lee' Trask Obituary Lila "Lee" Estella (Lutz) Trask July 30, 1927 - August 2, 2024 Our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother, Lila (Lee) Trask passed away Friday, August 2, 2024, at home, with her family by her side. Lee, the second child of eight, was born in Liberty Center, Ohio on July 30, 1927, to Eva M. (Richards) Lutz Spiess and Raymond Lutz. She grew up in Liberty Center with her Mother Eva, Stepfather Dewey Spiess and all of her siblings, graduating as Valedictorian before attending the University of Michigan. Lee was engaging, energetic, and intelligent. She devoted her life to her family, friends, church and her community. The door to her house was always open, and her house was often full of family and friends coming by for a cup of coffee or a delicious meal. She will be so missed. Lee traveled to Idaho in the summer of 1948 with her older sister Josephine and met her future husband and love of her life, Toby, at a 4th of July event. They spent every day together after meeting and were married on November 28, 1948. Lee and Toby had 64 years together and had five children Gene, John, Rob, Bill and Becky. Over the years the family has grown to 47, including the first great-great grandchild, Margot, born on July 27, 2024. Lee worked for the telephone company after moving to Idaho and met many lifelong friends there, then spent most of her working career as the bookkeeper and manager for Brown Bus Company. Lee had many passions including bridge (she and Margy Newby were unbeatable as a pair), reading, traveling with Toby (she visited all 50 states), art, and volunteering. Toby and Lee were a common sight delivering Meals on Wheels and visiting shut-ins to share the Word of God. Lee was a longstanding and faithful servant at Zion Lutheran Church, where she volunteered in numerous roles over the decades, including leading a weekly Bible study in her home. For decades, Lee and Toby spent their summers building, then enjoying the family cabin in Lowman. Lee is survived by a sister Ula (Spiess) Kessler and a brother Arlo Spiess; her children Gene Trask, John Trask, Rob and Gayle Trask, Bill and Judi Trask, Becky and Dave Cafferty; her grandchildren Sarah Trask, Robin and Derek Hoene, Lindsay and Jason Wood, Andy and Erika Trask, Monica Cafferty and Dane Mercier, Jake and Launee Trask, Shawn and Kara Cafferty, Alex and Andrea Trask, Terrill and Jessica Trask, Anna and Nick Tallerico and Shelby Cafferty; her great-grandchildren Abbey and Hunter Braseth, Ethan and Keegan Wood, Paige and Quinn Hoene, Caleb and Landon Trask, Adelynn Trask, Paisley and Cassius Tallerico, Elliott and Will Trask, Zachary and Charlotte Mercier and Matthew Cafferty; and her great-great-grandchild Margot Braseth. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and extended family members Gayle L. Trask, Janette Trask, Alice Trask, Jennifer De La Paz, and Dennis Boehlke, in addition to many dear and lifelong friends. Lee was preceded in death by her beloved husband Toby, her parents Dewey and Eva Spiess, and her siblings Marvin Spiess, Harold Kessler, Gerald and Colleen Spiess, Jo and Bill Beck, Treva and Richard Stevens and Arvis and Maurice Weaks.
