Lillian Elizabeth Kren, age 88, went to join her ever loving husband and sweetheart on their 67th wedding anniversary, Wednesday, May 4, 2011, with her children by her side. Born October 9, 1922, in Brooklyn, New York to Joseph and Sophie Martin, Lillian was the first born of 5 children, raised with a strong Catholic faith that she followed all her life. In 1940 she graduated from Bishop McDonnell High School in Brooklyn, New York. On May 4, 1944, she married Joseph George Kren in Ridgewood, New York and to this union they were blessed with five children. The family lived in Queens, New York, LaVerne and Pomona, California prior to moving to Idaho in 1992. Raising her family was the most important job she had and once the children left home, she had the time to enjoy sewing, gardening, reading and treasured the time she spent at each family gathering. She is survived by sons, Lawrence, Stephen (Rhonda) of Nampa and Joseph Jr. of Post Falls; daughters, Therese Freeman & Cecelia Lawrence, both of Nampa; sisters, Florence LaProvidenza and Terese (Duncan) Karcher of Garden City, New York and brother, Joseph (Ila) Martin of Newport, Tennessee, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, her parents, her brother George Martin, sons-in-law, John Freeman and Terry Lawrence. The family wishes to thank Roni and Cathy for their loving care of our mother. Mom will always be close in our hearts. Hers was truly a life well lived. The family will greet friends and family at a viewing and visitation on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. followed by a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at St. Aloyisius Catholic Church in New Plymouth. Burial will follow in the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, Boise.
