Obituary

Linda Rae Graesser Snider, wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, died Thursday, September 29, 2016, after a yearlong battle with cancer at the age of 68. Linda was born on October 18, 1947 in Burke, South Dakota to Lyle (Pete) and Esther Graesser. The family lived in South Dakota for ten years before moving to Springview, Nebraska where she lived until she graduated from Keya Paha County High School in 1965. Linda participated in many activities throughout her four years of high school. She was a cheerleader, played volleyball, was a member of the Glee club, student council, and drama club performing in the junior and senior class plays. She was chosen to be the Girls State Representative her junior year, and was a Homecoming Attendant and Salutatorian of her graduating class. Linda met Douglas Wayne Snider in 1962. They became high school sweethearts before getting married on May 28, 1966 in Rockport, Missouri. The couple moved to Amarillo, Texas where Doug was stationed and attended the Aircraft Mechanic School for the U.S. Air Force. Doug and Linda then moved to the McGuire Air Force Base in Trenton, New Jersey. While stationed in New Jersey their son, Nicholas Wayne was born. Doug was discharged from the military in 1970 and they moved back to Springview, Nebraska where their first daughter was born, LaDonna Rae. From there they lived for brief amounts of time in South Dakota and Colorado before moving to Nampa, Idaho in 1976. Lindas second daughter, Laura Lynn, was born that same year. In 1977, the family spent a summer in the Canadian bush country building a fishing lodge on Toobally Lake in the Yukon Territory. After coming back to Idaho for a short time they left for the Alaskan Wilderness to work for the Silver Bay Logging Company. Linda worked in the office as a bookkeeper for three seasons before the family moved back to Idaho. Linda was born to teach. She found a job at the Creative Child Learning Center where she taught the two and three year old class for over 30 years before retiring in 2013. Linda was also a devoted member of her church, Christian Faith Center, where she taught the three and four year olds Rainbow class every Wednesday night for 37 years. She touched the lives of countless people with her kind, loving, and selfless spirit. In the Fall of 2015, Linda was diagnosed with leukemia. She stayed courageous and strong throughout her battle with cancer and was able to celebrate her 50th wedding anniversary with her high school sweetheart in June of this year. Linda was surrounded by family as she slipped away to be with Jesus. Linda is survived by her husband, Doug; her son Nick (Julie) Snider; daughters LaDonna (Mike) Robertson, and Laura (Phil) Simpson; her father Lyle (Pete) Graesser; sisters Joan (Dennis Osbourn) Keeler, Ellen (John) Morris, Mary Jane (Jerry) Kraemer; brothers Lou (Debbie) Graesser, Gary (Vicki) Graesser; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
