Lloyd Elwyn (Al) Allison Jr., passed away on October 15th, 2011 surrounded by his devoted children. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister, as well as his loving wife of 61 years, Rosalee June (Lancaster) Allison.

He was born to Lloyd Elwyn Allison and Golda Ruth (Brown) Allison on August 19th, 1926. Born the second of eleven children he was constantly surrounded with love and family; a blessing that he carried with him throughout his life and something he passed onto his own children. He was raised in Dixie, near the small town of Notus, ID on a small farm affectionately known as "Home Acres". In 1943, at the tender age of 17 he enlisted in the Navy and served his country with honor and pride in both WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was very proud of his time in the armed services and he loved telling stories about his shipmates and their adventures at sea.

On June 10, 1948 he married his true love Rosalee June (Lancaster) Allison in the chapel at College Church of the Nazarene. Their amazing 61 year love story is the cornerstone of our family of eight children: Chuck (Jeani Gardner) Allison, Doug (Julie Boehlke) Allison, Kathy (Stan) Soran, Renee (Fred) Hukill, Debbie (Jeff) Smith, Rob (Julie Warn) Allison, Melanie (Jeff) Higgins, Sue (Tad) Miller, 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grand children, and many nieces and nephews. His love for his family was always a constant in our lives. Hed happily bend anyones ear with stories and tales about one of his children or many grandchildrens latest achievement and usually had pictures to back it up.

A cowboy above all else; some would argue that he spent more time on horseback than on his own two feet. Throughout his life he worked many different ranching jobs, was a Technician at American Breeder Services, a Lead Man at Birdseye Foods, and ultimately retired from Nampa Livestock. His Saturdays were spent down at the stockyards on a horse with one of his trusty cow dogs close by his side.

He loved his wife, he loved his family; his hugs were quick and generous, but his smiles were quicker. As we all gather for one of many Sunday dinners, we celebrate the life of a cowboy who we are all better for knowing and blessed for having been loved by. We are surrounded by memories of him and his love for us and his love for the life that he built with his much missed wife. Although we are sad; we are also happy to know that they are once again together as they should be riding off into the sunset in a buggy made for two.

We love you Daddy. We love you Papa. We love you Grandpa Al. Our hero has always been a COWBOY.

Visitation will be held at Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, on Wednesday, October 19th, from 5:00 7:00 p.m. in Nampa, ID. Funeral services will be held at College Church of the Nazarene on Thursday, October 20th, at 11:00 a.m. The burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial in Caldwell, ID.
