Obituary

Lorene 'Lori' Tierney Obituary Lorene Marie Tierney, affectionally called Lori, passed away and met her Savior on May 18, 2024, while vacationing on the island of Maui, Hawaii, at the age of sixty-one. Born to Bob and Margo Tierney in Boise, on May 29, 1962, Lori was an active and cherished member of The Rock Christian Missionary Alliance Church in her hometown of Nampa, Idaho. The oldest of three children, Lori spent her happy childhood years in both Caldwell, Idaho and Glendora, California. Her family relocated from Idaho to California in 1972. In high school, Lori, and both of her siblings, were actively involved in the Scottish themed Glendora High School Marching band. During those years, she marched in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena and traveled to Switzerland to perform for the Fete de Geneve festival there. After high school, Lori attended Citrus College and obtained her Associate of Arts Degree, then transferred to San Jose State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy. Prior to becoming disabled, Lori worked as a brilliant and creative Occupational Therapist for more than 20 years, who specialized in serving both children and the elderly. One of Loris great passions beyond her church, family, cooking, and traveling was crocheting. She crocheted beautiful projects for her family and friends ranging from baby blankets, throws, scarves, angel ornaments, and little stuffed animals. As she crocheted each item, she would constantly pray for the family, friend, or person in need receiving them. Though her mobility may have been limited, this did not hinder Loris ability to minister to others. While Lori lived her life in prayerful anticipation of the day where she could ascend into heaven to meet her Lord and Savior, WE are heartbroken. Her ever-ready smile, twinkling eyes, silly giggle, and prayers will be forever missed. Weve been so touched and humbled by just how far and impactful Loris angelic reach has spanned, from our family to her fellow Rock church members, her music lesson buddies, her mission outreach partners, her Sunday school kiddos, her numerous life-long high-school, university, and O.T. friends. We are inspired by the legacy Lori is leaving behind and can only hope to leave such an indelible and lasting mark on the world. Lorene was preceded in death by her beloved parents Robert J. Tierney Jr. and Margaret A. Tierney, uncle William F. Tierney, aunt Dolores Tierney, uncle John F. Tierney, and great aunt Laura Carmichael. She is survived by her sister Mary Jean Rico, brother-in-law Jose L. Rico, niece Lucianna M. Rico, and nephew Matthew T. Rico, and by her brother Robert J. Tierney III. Lori is also survived by her aunt Annette Tierney, and six first cousins Robert. J. Tierney (Kendall Tierney), Paul Tierney (Richelle Tierney), John A. Tierney, and Mary J. Swanke (John Swanke), Kat Shumway (Kevin Shumway), and Tricia Hendrickson, and a vast family of loving second cousins, nieces, and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service of Loris life will be held on Friday, June 14th at 10:30 AM at The Rock Christian Missionary Alliance Church. The Rocks address is 11220 Lone Star Road, Nampa, Idaho 83651. For those planning to attend her service, we invite you to wear Hawaiian clothes, with bonus points for wearing purple, Loris favorite color. A lunch reception, with a little Hawaiian flair, will be held at the church immediately following the service. If you are one of the countless blessed recipients of a crocheted gift from Lori, would you kindly bring it with you to her memorial service? When shown collectively, we believe it will serve as a powerful visual representation of the time and effort put into those gifts, and a beautiful symbol of Loris prayerful legacy and deep love for others.
