Lorna Spence Voigt, 87, of Nampa, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in Chandler, Arizona. Lorna was born on October 27, 1924 in Bellbird, New South Wales, Australia to George and Annie Stephenson. She was raised and educated in the Bellbird and Sydney areas. On October 7, 1943 she married William Towery, a young man from the United States Army Air Corp, who was stationed in the Pacific during WWII. William went M.I.A. during the war and at the age of 18, Lorna came to Nampa to meet her missing husbands family. She ended up staying in Nampa after being treated like a daughter by the Towerys.

She met and married Carl Voigt on October 8, 1945 in Nampa. During their marriage they owned and operated the Voigt Refrigeration Co. in Nampa for 28 years. Carl passed away on August 18, 1993.

Lorna was a life member of the Nampa Lady Elks and a very active member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Nampa. She was also a devout fan of Boise State Football and a huge booster of the Bronco Athletic Association.

She is survived by her children: Linda (Mark) Petty of Munroe Falls, Ohio, Karla Martinez of Gilbert, Arizona, Debbie Krommenhoek of Seattle, Washington and Bruce Voigt of Gilbert, Arizona; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at the Grace Episcopal Church in Nampa. Entombment will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell. Services are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel.
