Lucia Amedia Henzler “Lucy” 98 years of age, passed away peacefully at home with her daughter by her side on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
Lucy was born in Niagara, North Dakota to Henry and Amedia Brueckner on December 20, 1927. She was the tenth of eleven children. At the age of 10 she moved with her parents, two brothers and one sister to Carlsborg, Washington for a milder climate. She attended Sequim High School and graduated in 1946.
After high school she went to Addison, Illinois and worked in a home for underprivileged children for a few months. She then spent several months in North Dakota, helping her sister Linda and her family. After returning to Port Angeles, Washington, she met and married Sam Jones, a painting contractor. They moved to Coos Bay, Oregon and then to Twin Falls, Idaho. They had a daughter Linda in April of 1954. Sam passed away January 27, 1962, at the age of 50.
Lucy met Don Neumann in 1964, and they were married April 10, 1965. Don was a building contractor and built mostly Lutheran Churches. They purchased a mobile home to make their frequent moves easier. Lucy loved adventure so became an avid camper, fisher, hunter and motorcycle rider. She and Don were happily married until he passed away August 14, 1976.
After being a widow for 20 years, Lucy met Delbert Henzler at church, and they were married January 4, 1997. They were happily married for 18 years. Delbert passed away October 9. 2015. They enjoyed many touring trips alone and with friends to places like Alaska, Hawaii and Branson, Missouri. They spent many happy hours gardening and fishing together.
Lucy worked most of her life as a waitress. She worked in everything from a soda fountain to a country club. The last 15 years before she retired, she worked as a clerk for Canyon County DMV.
Lucy was always involved with her local church wherever she was living at the time. During her years of membership at Zion Lutheran Church, she was part of LWML, making quilts and helping with funeral dinners. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning and made the most delicious pies. She delighted in playing cards, especially pinochle. She was always overjoyed to spend time with her grandsons, great-granddaughters, nieces and nephews whenever they could visit.
Lucy is survived by her daughter, Linda Ferris; grandson, Robert Ferris; grandson, Steven (Nicole) Ferris; great-grandchildren Alaina, Ava, Serena, Blakely and Colter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Amedia Brueckner; husbands Sam Jones, Don Neumann and Delbert Henzler; brothers, Paul, Edwin, Walter, Rudolph, Ruben and Ervin and sisters, Agnes, Hulda, Linda and Gertrude.
