Lucille was born June 6, 1951, in Du Quoin, Illinois to Jesse and Minerva Martin. She was the youngest of four children born to the family including her brother Eugene and two sisters, Judy and Vickie. Lucille worked at a number of jobs while living in Illinois, including working in the kitchen preparing meals in a restaurant and as a waitress.
Lucille was married to Jim Beisner and a daughter, Christina, was born to the family. Dim and Lucille were later divorced and Lucille and Christina moved to Idaho in October of 1978 in search of work.
Lucille worked in the manufactured home factories to support Christina and herself.
While living in a duplex on Hudson Avenue in Nampa, she was introduced by her dog,
"Lady Dog”, to Daryl Marler, who had also come to Idaho for work. Kay and Daryl were married on May 14, 1982, and were totally dedicated to each other until her death.
After Kenny Rogers released the song "Lucille" she started using her middle name Kay. Kay finished her education and worked for 45+ years in the Cosmetology establishments in the Treasure Valley, including positions as a cosmetologist instructor.
Kay was a devoted Christian who loved her Lord and read her bible and had devotions every day. On April 16, 2026, Kay went to be with her Lord and Savior. Services for Kay will be held Friday, April 24th at Nampa Funeral Home at 11:00 AM. A burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens at 1:00 PM to follow.
