Obituary

On Wednesday, March 19th of 2014, Lynn Gordon Bryan, beloved father, grand-father, great grandfather and decorated World War II veteran, died in Boise, Idaho and the age of nearly 89. Lynn was a gentle and kind-hearted man who was loved by his large and extended family. Born and raised in his loved home state of Montana, he met his future wife, Joyce Mae Yount, as a child in Spokane, Washington. Later, he went to serve in World War II, and when he returned, met up with Joyce at a local dentist office and shortly thereafter they fell in love and later married. After the birth of their first child, Pamela Kay Bryan, the young family moved to Washington State where they lived for the majority of their life until they later moved to the town of Boise, Idaho seven years ago to be near their large, extended family. Lynn was an avid outdoorsman and had a passion to photographer, particularity for nature and old, dilapidated barns. He was very active in local law enforcement and social groups in Washington state and was very proud of his history serving his country. He was a decorated veteran and wore the title proudly. He was a man dedicated to his family and the nurturing of familiar connections. He along with Ardith Bryan, his sister-in-law, were the primary genealogists for the family and traced the families Irish and German heritage (even going so far as to a trip to Ireland, see the town of Bryan, Ireland and kiss the the blarney stone). His first daughter, Pamela Kay Bryan, lives in Boise and heralds from Yakima where she raised and her three children, all of whom live in Boise. From Pamela's three children, Lynn had eight great grand-children. Pamela's three children are Stacy Burton, Sean Burton and Shannon Burton. His second daughter, Joy Lyn Bryan-Markley, is a successful Ph.D working with special need children in the New England area. She has been married for over 10 years to her husband, Ken Markley. His son, Michael Bryan, is a prominent actor, writer and artist in New York City who has performed on stage, and in film and television. Lynn was a kind man who worked for many years as an engineer at Boeing in Seattle. He traveled the world for Boeing and also worked at a family therapist after having received his Master in psychotherapy. He also counseled war veterans and was an extremely avid reader, a passion he passed along to his children. He is pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Joyce, and his loyal companion, Gracie, a bichons frises dog, as well as Doug Linn, his son-in-law. He will forever be dearly missed. The family will greet family and friends at a visitation and viewing from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. with military honors at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery Boise. An online guestbook is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com
