Marcella Weldon Obituary Marcella Jean Weldon, a resident of Boise, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2024, just short of her 94th birthday. Marcella was born July 12, 1930 in Bradshaw, Nebraska to John and Bernice Hiatt. She moved to Burley, Idaho at a young age and graduated from Burley High School in 1948. She married her high school sweetheart, William H. Bill Weldon, two months later, and they had 72 wonderful years together before Bills passing in 2021. Marcellas first career was being a very loving mother. Once we were all in school, she worked for many years and retired from the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, a branch of the U.S government. After retiring, Marcella and Bill enjoyed many years wintering in Arizona with friends from Idaho and beyond. They never missed a spontaneous outing or happy hour. Mom and Dad taught the four of us the importance of family, love and hard work. Mom always welcomed our friends into our home and didnt think twice about putting an extra plate on the table. Many of them thought of her as "Mom." She was always there for us when we needed to talk, and taught us to make good decisions. 13 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren call her Grandma. She had a close relationship with all of them who remember her as being kind, loving and the sweetest person they knew. Grandma loved rocking them up until the time they would no longer stay on her lap. And they all knew there would be cookies in the Oreo cookie jar. Marcella had too many friends to count and had outlived the majority of them. She was a member of the Lady Lions, Zonta Club, and a lifelong member of the Cathedral of the Rockies Methodist Church. Mom and Dad always went to church early to have coffee with their friends, they were always proud to show off their children and grandchildren when they filled the "family pew". Marcella is survived by her children Penny (Tom) Huck, Pam (Larry) Bigelow, Patty (Jeff Johnson), John (Judi) Weldon, brother, Jack (Jan) Hiatt, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill and grandson, Jacob Weldon. We would like to thank the staff at Edgewood Spring Creek Ustick assisted living facility for taking such good care of, and loving our mother the past three years. She dearly loved all of them. We can all agree that Marcella lived her life with love, integrity and grace. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 13, at 1:00 p.m. at Nampa Funeral Home-Yraguen Chapel. Pastor Duane Anders will officiate. Burial will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery in Boise. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Marcellas name to a charity of your choice.
