Obituary

Margaret Hamming Schuler 87 of Nampa passed away at her home at Touchmark, Meridian Id. June 28, 2012. Margaret was born at St Lukes Hospital Boise Id. on August 29, 1924, to Renze and Clissie Hamming. She was raised on a cattle ranch on Eagle Road. Her mother passed when she was twelve. Margaret attended White Cross grade school in Meridian and North Jr. High in Boise, graduating from Boise High School in 1942. Margaret met Carl Schuler at one of the famous Schuler barn dances at the Schuler farm. They were married November 29, 1945 at St. Pauls Church. In 1946 she and Carl moved to their farm on Amity and Happy Valley Road in Nampa, and she became a dairy wife for the next 60 years. She was very busy raising 5 children, a garden, fruit trees, the daily care of baby calves, a 4-H leader, and involved in the P.T.A.. Margaret had been a member of Court Our Lady of Victory #1348 of Nampa for over 50 years. During that time, she held different offices, and in 1979 she become Regent and held that office until 1983. Margaret worked with the Jr. C. D. A. and held the office of District Deputy, and was State Nominating Committee Chairman and Catholic Womens League and was a Eucharistic Minister. She helped with Bingo, funeral dinners, and layettes for Mercy MedicalCenter. She also hosted C.D.A. members in her home for over 40 years. She worked with the Knights of Columbus and the C.D.A. at a food booth at the Idaho State Fair for 14 years. She was on the Parish Council forSt. Pauls Church for 4 years and also worked on the Election Board for 6 years. She was a member of the Can-Ada Holstein Club, President of the Black and White Club, and Lady Elks. She also worked on the Heart drive. For nearly 20 years she and Carl grew and delivered sweet corn to the Monastery of St. Gertrude inCottonwood Id. For over 50 years she hosted the Schuler family 4th of July picnics. She was Vice President of Schuler Lane Farms. With her eyes failing, she received a miracle in 1970 &1971 with two cornea transplants enabling her to regain her sight. She is preceded in death by her husband Carl, sons John and Jim, grandson Ben, 2 brothers, 8 sister-in laws, 5 brothers-in-laws, step mother and step sister. Margaret is survived by her children, daughter-in law Barbara Schuler, Karla (Gene) Deveraux, Joe (Susan) Schuler, Tom (Brenda) Schuler. 15 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, two brother-in-laws, four sister-in-laws, one step brother and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Align Hospice and Touchmark Assisted Living for their many years of great care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Gertudes Monastery inCottonwood. A public viewing will be held on Sunday, July 1, 2012, from 4 to 5 pm with Vigil Services beginning at 5, at Nampa Funeral Home - Yraguen Chapel on 12th Ave South Nampa. Funeral services will be held at Saint Pauls Catholic Church on July 2, 2012 at 11am. Graveside services will follow at Mount CalvaryCemetery in Nampa. A reception will be held immediately after at the Colombian Hall on Railroad Road.
