Obituary

Margie known to most as Mildred was born on the Missouri/Iowa Line on April 12, 1925; it was an Easter Sunday. She was born to Ruth Edith Boyd-Johns and James G. Johns. She was one of 7 children; they lived in Missouri until she was 5 and they then moved to Texas, and then returned back to Missouri after a couple of years. That is where she met and married Frank Burtlow. They were married on May 23, 1941. They began their lives and started a family in Missouri. In August 1942 Frank was drafted and went away to fight in WWII. Margie stayed behind and cared for the children. They had a total of ten children all together; Jerry D. Burtlow, Evelyn Sue Burtlow-Williams, James L. (Carol) Burtlow, Roger R. (Billie) Burtlow, Eddie L. Burtlow, Ernest R. Burtlow, Kenneth F.(Barbara) Burtlow, Raymond H. Burtlow, Lloyd L. (Linda) Burtlow, and Marilyn A. (Mark) Burtlow-Rosar; as well as 20 Grandchildren, and many great and great great grandchildren. In 1947 after Frank returned from the war, he and Margie decided to spread their wings and packed up the family and moved to Idaho where they continued their growing family and spending their lives together .Margie was a nurturer and was always cooking, cleaning, and caring for not only her own family but others as well. She was always being called upon to help take care of somebody that was ill or in need of assistance; she loved doing home care and has taken care of countless people. She lived in the same home on 9th Avenue South for almost 50 years, until she sold it just 3 years ago and moved to her little apartment. She always missed the house and wished she had not sold it, but it was getting to be too much for her to handle. After her stroke in August she moved to Kindred Care on Horton where she resided until her passing on the 5th of January. She had many loves in life and was always quilting she made sure that all of children and grandchildren had grandma made quilts, she never wanted anyone to be cold. Along with quilting she loved to sew, crochet, and to grow a garden that she could can to make sure there was plenty of food to feed anyone that came to her home. She is survived by 5 children Jerry, Jim, Roger, Lloyd, and Marilyn as well as all the grandchildren. She has one surviving sister, Hazel Sade of Kansas City, MO. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, 5 children Eddie, Evelyn (Sue), Ernest (Rex), Kenneth and Raymond along with her parents, and 5 siblings. Everybody always loved her spirit, and the fact that she was always more concerned about others over herself no matter how tired she was. She will be missed and always in our hearts and on our minds.
