Marquis Cantrell Obituary Marquis LaVee Cantrell, age 54, passed away from natural causes, peacefully, at her home in Pleasant Grove, California, on May 8, 2025.
Born on April 28, 1971, in Nampa, Idaho, Marquis was the beloved daughter of Richard and Sandra Hurn. She grew up in Nampa and graduated from Nampa Christian High School, where she was a cheerleader, homecoming princess, and later crowned homecoming queen. From a young age, Marquis showed a vibrant spirit and a deep love for people.
Her early jobs at Clarks Air Service, The Bon March, and a local bridal store helped shape her professional passions. After moving to California with her husband, Robert Cantrell, Marquis co-founded Marquis Aviation, an agricultural aviation business that gave her the opportunity to travel and meet new people throughout the United States.
Marquis graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northwest Nazarene University with a bachelors degree in social work. She dedicated her career to helping others, particularly children and families. She served on the Keeping Idaho Safe Committee, worked as a counselor at West Valley Medical Center, and served as a social worker in various hospitals and nursing homes. Marquis also championed awareness and support for those living with Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder and Multiple Myeloma.
From the age of seven, Marquis pursued modeling, training at Blanche Evans Modeling School. She won numerous awards, including an international modeling competition in New York at age nine and was offered a role on The Young and the Restless. She participated in numerous ad campaigns, fashion shows, and pageants, earning titles such as Miss Regal Duchess, 1989 Idahos Homecoming Queen, and Miss World America Idaho 1993.
A devoted Christian, Marquis was raised in the Nazarene Church and lived out her faith daily. Her love for Christ was evident in the way she cared for and uplifted others and shared the gospel. Friends and family describe her as "everyones best friend" a woman of compassion, grace, and generosity. Marquis is survived by her husband Robert Cantrell; daughter Garin Harris; stepson Weston Cantrell; and Mother Sandra Hurn. She was preceded in death by her father Richard Hurn, Grandmother Velma Milligan, uncle Dr. Donald Milligan.
A celebration of Marquiss life will be held on May 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Nampa Funeral Home-Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. S, Nampa, ID 83651.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors, caregivers, friends, and extended family who supported Marquis and helped her live her life to the fullest.
