Marvin F. (Toby) Trask
January 5, 1923 October 3, 2013
My chains are gone Ive been set free
My God my Savior has ransomed me
Born in Nampa, ID, January 5, 1923; the sixth of seven children to Fred R. and Anna M. Trask. Marvin lived a full life committed to one hometown, one job, one service, one church, one wife, with many rewards.
Upon graduating from Nampa High School in 1941, Marvin began working for the Union Pacific Railroad as a clerk, retiring in 1986. During this time he also served in the United States Navy / USN Reserve from 1944 through full military retirement in 1977, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Marvin was extremely proud of these accomplishments.
On November 28, 1948 Marvin married Lila E. Lutz in Winnemucca, NV. From this union of 64 years came children Eugene, John, Robert, William and Rebecca. With the addition of spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren the family has grown to 38. Marvin always viewed his family as his greatest blessing.
Marvin (Toby) was a gifted handyman and he lived his life as such. If the task required a plumber, electrician, painter, carpenter or dishwasher, he could do it all. His boldest project was transforming the family homestead barn into a cabin at Lowman, ID. Toby completed the cabin with the help of family, friends and a few innovative resources over a period of several years. Toby thoroughly enjoyed his handy work during his retirement. Tobys life was all about quality not quantity!
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife Lee and sons / daughter-in-laws: Gene Trask, John and Alice Trask, Rob and Gayle Trask, Bill and Judi Trask and daughter /son-in-law Becky and Dave Cafferty. Grandchildren: Sarah Trask, Robin and Derek Hoene, Lindsay and Jason Wood, Andy and Erika Trask, Monica Cafferty and Dane Mercier, Jake and Launee Trask, Shawn and Kara Cafferty, Alex and Andrea Trask, Terrill Trask, Anna and Nick Tallerico, and Shelby Cafferty. Great-grandchildren: Abbey, Ethan and Keegan Wood, Paige and Quinn Hoene, Caleb Trask, Adelynn Trask and Paisley Tallerico. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and extended family members Gayle L. Trask, Janette Trask , Jennifer De LaPaz, and Dennis Boehlke.
Marvins door was always open during gatherings and family functions, especially holidays. "No one deserves to be alone or without, when we have been blessed with so much."
