Mary Alice Waters Jones, 96, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014 in Nampa, Idaho. Visitation will be held from 6-7 pm on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014 at the Jones & Casey Funeral Home in Salmon. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, Sept. 8, 2014 at the Jones & Casey Funeral Home. Vault interment will follow at the Salmon Cemetery under the auspices of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mary was born March 14, 1918 in Grand Rapids, Michigan the daughter of Joseph Rene and Elizabeth Anne Barry Waters. She spent her early years in Detroit and graduated from David Mackenzie High School with the class of 1936. After completing business school, she was employed by J. R. Hamilton Funeral Home in Detroit. On September 26, 1942 she married Delbert C. Jones in San Jose, California. They moved to Salmon in 1946 and opened the Jones Funeral Home which they operated for 25 years. Mary was a licensed funeral director. She also served as Lemhi County Registrar for many years. In 1980 they built a summer home on Flathead Lake near Dayton, Montana, and spent the winters in Wickenburg, Arizona. They returned to Salmon in 1993 where they made their home. Del died in 2000 and Mary moved to Nampa, Idaho. She was past matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Hugh Duncan Chapter #2 and a 50 year member; past guardian of Jobs Daughters; and past president of Chapter AF, P. E. O. Sisterhood and a 50 year member. Mary is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Casey of Nampa and Linda Patterson of Homedale; five grandsons, Brian Casey of Sandpoint, Bart (Anne Marie) Casey of Sandpoint, Brett (Melissa) Casey of Meridian, David (Heather) Patterson of Greenleaf, and Eric (Kristi) Patterson of Boise; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Del.
