Mary Murach Obituary Mary Veronica Murach, 94, of Nampa, Idaho, went home to be with the Lord on December 21, 2021. Mary was born to Stephen and Anne Pjura on May 13, 1927, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. At the age of two, Mary lost her mother to Influenza. Her father remarried Mary Tobias, the only mother she knew, and her stepbrother Albert, joined the family. Her sister Frances and brother Stephen were subsequently born. The Pjura family stayed connected to their Slovak heritage through their involvement with Sts. Cyril & Methodius Slovak Catholic Church and School. Mary attended the Churchs elementary school and graduated its Commercial High School. At the age of 19, Mary discovered and married the love of her life, Henry Murach, Sr. Together they had six children and lived together in Bridgeport until his death in 1991. After graduation, Mary worked at Pjuras, the family lunch counter, which proudly served the best hot dogs in Connecticut. She worked there until 1944 when she decided to support the war effort by applying her business education. Mary worked for the War Department in Washington D.C.; where she learned to make punch cards, which were used in one of the first computer systems in the United States. Although Mary loved working in Washington D.C., her family needed her in Bridgeport, so she moved back to Connecticut. While working at Pjuras, a young, handsome, and well-dressed Veteran came into the shop and spotted her. That day Henry told his brother that he "was going to marry the prettiest red head he had ever seen." True to his word, Henry Murach started courting Mary Pjura at his brothers bowling alley. On November 27, 1946, they were married. Mary wore the dress she purchased with her War Stamps. One day shortly after they were married, Henry and Mary were taking a walk-in downtown Bridgeport. They saw a picture of a house for sale that Mary thought would make a good home. From that moment on, 484 Logan Street became home. Henry and Mary then started their family, and became known as "Mom and Dad." Mary was a proud Slovak and a lifelong parishioner of St. Cyrils Church. When she was not chasing kids or cooking meals, she actively participated in parish life. Mary was the "Unofficial" photographer at all Church events. She belonged to the St. Josephs Society Branch 19 of the First Slovak Union, Slovak Catholic Sokols, served as President of Our Ladys Guild and as President of the St. Cyrils Senior Group. In 2006, Mary was awarded the St. Augustine Medal of Service for the Diocese of Bridgeport, an award given to an outstanding parishioner who embodies the spirit of Christian service. Mary continued in that tradition upon her arrival in Nampa where she joined St Pauls Catholic Church and participated in the Divine Mercy Prayer Group, the St Vincent de Pauls Society, and the Adoration Chapel. In 2008, Mary set out on a new adventure when she moved out to the Wild West, to Nampa, Idaho and lived with her cherished son Chet. In Idaho, she found new friends at St. Pauls Catholic Church and the Nampa Christian Center. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; brothers John (Jean) Pjura, Albert (Jean) Pjura; brothers in-law Stanley Murach, Adam (Jean) Murach, Chester Murach, Frank (Carol) Murach; sister-in law Helen Waz, and grandson Thomas Murach. Mary is survived by her children; Mary-Anne Blanford, Stanley (Michie) Murach, Christine (Bill) Dolan, Henry (Jody) Murach, Chester Murach, and Marilouise (Ron) Rozanski; twelve grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister Frances (Dale) Chase Rice, brother Stephen Pjura, Jr., and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. The Visitation will be at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. So. on January 7, 2021 from 6:00 8:00 PM with the Rosary starting at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Service will be on January 8 at the Nampa Funeral Home at 10:00 AM. In order to be with her beloved Henry, Marys final resting place will in Connecticut. On January 15, 2022, a Visitation will be held at 9:00 AM at The Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Bridgeport, Connecticut followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM and Interment in St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery.
