Obituary

Mary Katherine "Kandy" Winters

1952 to 2017 She looked like a little angel with reddish-gold curls and a smile that brought joy to anyone who saw her and she was a gift from God placed in my arms. She was the answer to many prayers, given to us at the Boise Children's Home. Her birth date was February 16, 1952. Warren and Katherine Campbell (myself) were her adoptive parents. Kandy's childhood was spent in McCall, she also attended elementary school there. In 1965 she and her mother Kitty moved to Boise where she attended East Junior High and graduated from Borah High School. Later she enrolled in Boise Business College. She worked at a number of jobs during her lifetime. She retired after working fourteen years at Albertsons in Eagle. Her pride and joy were her two boys and six grandchildren. Her eldest son is Kevin Culbertson (Laura), grandchildren K.J. And Michael. Her second son is James Evans. His children are Tyesen, Peyton, Makena, and Logan. She is also survived by her parents, Dude and Kitty Widner and her brothers Rocky Widner and Mark Campbell. She was preceded in death by a sister, Debbie Widner Metz, and her adoptive father Warren Campbell. Always gregarious, she has made many friends. Another important quality she displayed was her helpfulness to anyone and everyone. My husband, Dude Widner and I have been married fifty years, he has always loved her. And she loved her "Dad", as she called him, and all of her family. Although she at times looked like an angel she was not angelic. She loved to laugh, dance and listen to country music. Fishing was her favorite outdoor sport and she loved nothing better than camping on a mountain stream or lake where she could fish. She was happy in the wilderness with it's natural beauty. She loved Indian lore and animals, especially dogs. On the wild side, she loved wolves. When her parents and the younger family members ask, "I don't know what we will do without her?" We must go on without her and honor her with being the best people we can possibly be. She will be sorely missed. It is with deep appreciation the family of Kandy Winters wishes to thank many people for the help and kindnesses shown to us. Saint Lukes MSTI has helped Kandy in her fight with cancer for over two years. Special thanks to Dr. Florentino and his talented staff. The LDS church members have given us outstanding support throughout this ordeal, we can't thank you enough. Bishop Greg Hymas and Vickie Branon special thanks. Services will be held at the Middleton Seventh Ward LDS Church, 309 W. Main St. at 1:00 pm Saturday, July 15, 2017. If you wish to make donations, choose the charity of your choice. Lunch will be served afterwards.
