Obituary

Michael "Mike" David Barayasarra, 74, of Meridian, Idaho, died January, 1, 2017, at St. Lukes Hospital, Boise. Mike was born in Boise on February 13, 1942, and lived in Grand View until 1948 when the family moved to Nampa. He graduated from Meridian High School in 1960 and farmed until retirement in 2003. He was a member of Holy Apostles Catholic Church of Meridian. He was preceded in death by parents Nemesio and Victorina Barayasarra; sisters Mary Felipa and Alva; brothers Louis, Frank, and Manuel. He is survived by wife Catherine "Cathy" Bell Barayasarra, who he married in 1975, and his brother James Barayasarra of Maryland. Although Mike and Cathy had no children of their own, they appreciated their niece, Vicki. Other survivors include nine nieces and nephews of Idaho, New York, Pennsylvania, and Morocco, along with their various children and grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Knights of Columbus Charities. Arrangements are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel where a viewing/rosary will be held Friday, January 6, at 6:00p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in Meridian on Saturday, January 7, at 10:00a.m. Interment will follow at Meridian cemetery.
