Nancy M. Franklin (Fountain), 73, of Nampa, Idaho went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 17, 2025. She was born on May 2,1952 in Everett, Washington to Milton Fountain and Grace (Glass) Fountain. Nancy was the second oldest of five sisters: Gayle, Cheryl, Connie, and Penny. A beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt; she is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Jim Franklin, children: Jesse Franklin (wife Jeni), Jeremy Franklin (wife Kara), and Katie (husband Aaron), grandchildren: Kenna (husband Nathan), Addison, Chade, Rhett, Sawyer, Owen, sisters: Gayle (husband Claude Sheffield), Cheryl (husband Veril Pool), Connie (husband Dave DeBord), and Penny (husband Bill Shea), sister-in-law Joyce Chadbourne, and multiple nieces and nephews. Nancy loved her family and never missed an opportunity to show it.
Nancy and her parents moved several times growing up due to her dad's occupation as a substation operator for Bonneville Power. She moved from Everett to Umatilla, then to Moses Lake and ended up in Auburn, Washington from age 10 to graduation.
Nancy graduated high school and made her way to Northwest Nazarene College to pursue a degree in education. While at NNC Nancy sang in several choirs and singing groups. She met her future husband in a Christian Contemporary Choir out of Nampa First. They dated through their college years and married before their senior year. Nancy graduated with a teaching degree in 1974. The couple moved to Kansas City, Missouri where Jim earned his master's degree in divinity while Nancy taught school, worked in the welfare department, then the University of Missouri, Kansas City as a secretary. During their time in Kansas City, Nancy mentored a teen girl while Jim taught Senior High Sunday School class at Nall Avenue Church of the Nazarene. From here the couple moved to Yakima, Washington where Jim was the Youth Pastor and Nancy assisted. After starting July 1, 1978, the couple were totally surprised when they had twins, Jeremy and Jesse on July 12. In 1980, Jim took a Senior Pastorate in White Salmon, Washington where a year later they had a daughter, Katie joins the family. Nancy worked hard helping Jim build a house. She was the church pianist, working in several different ministries in the church as well as secretary. She also worked as secretary for the White Salmon building and planning department. In 1985, the couple moved to Kalama, Washington where Jim became senior pastor of Kalama Nazarene. Nancy served as church secretary and led several children's musicals. From there the couple moved to Bend, Oregon in 1989 where Jim served as associate and youth pastor at Bend Nazarene. Nancy and Jim sang in ensembles, sang specials and assisted with the teen group and Nancy served as a secretary for an appraisal office. They also worked together to do a major remodel on their home. In 1993, Jim took the senior pastorate in Federal Way, Washington (a suburb of Seattle). Nancy worked as an assistant adult Sunday School teacher, played the keyboard at the church, and worked at Rental Research. Then in 2000 – 2004 they helped start a church in Lakewood, Washington. During their time in Lakewood Nancy worked in different ministries in the church.
In 2004 the couple moved to Nampa, Idaho where Jim became and associate pastor at Bethel Nazarene. Nancy was a librarian at Nampa Christian Elementary and then worked as an aide at Melba Elementary, helping her daughter-in-law, Kara with her kindergarten class as well as working as an aide for the special education department. Throughout all these years Nancy loved being a mom and grandma. She also loved to travel with her husband on mission trips both domestic and international. She also enjoyed camping with her friends and family. Her family remembers her themed dinners that she planned with her grandkids, her holiday games and her family survivor game where she created multiple challenges for the family to compete in. The past couple of years she began to struggle with her health needing multiple surgeries that came with complications. She passed away Monday, November 17th peacefully in her home surrounded by her family.
A Celebration of Life Service for Nancy will be held at Bethel Church of the Nazarene, 3001 12th Ave. Rd. in Nampa, Idaho on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 11:00am. Memorial contributions to be made in lieu of flowers to: Peris Akoye, c/o Bethel Church of the Nazarene.
