Neil Hayes, 61, of Nampa, passed away Monday, February 21, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Neil was born on December 18, 1949 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the son of Frances Elmer and Alice Lucy Hayes. He moved throughout the Northwest and Intermountain states where he was educated. He attended Spokane Falls Community College and received a degree in agriculture plant breeding which he worked as for many years. Most recently he worked for the Terteling Family Flora Company in Boise as a maintenance manager which he enjoyed very much.

On June 21, 1967 he married Mary Kerbs in Ogden, Utah. To this marriage was born a son and two daughters. In 1968, Neil was drafted into the U.S. Army and served his country during the Viet Nam War.

Neil was a man who considered his family first. He was known to help anyone in need. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, rock collecting, wood working and loved his Harley rides with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; a son, Sean Hayes; two daughters, Wendy Jones and Athena Descoteau; his grandchildren, Kelly, Cheree, Alexis, Noah, Haylie, Shianna; three sisters, Carolea, Nila and Sue; and five brothers, Burdett, Marvin, Dennis, Joe and Danny.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Monty, Dee, Kerry and Beldon; and a sister, Darlene.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, Boise
