Patricia Currier, 90, of Boise, formerly of Emmett died at St. Lukes Hospital on June 4, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel will be held at Hillcrest Assisted Living, 1093 S. Hilton, Boise on June 11, 2012 at 2:00 pm.

Patricia was born February 1, 1922 at Broken Bow, Nebraska to Bernard and Bessie Daggett McNeff. She moved toEmmett, Idaho with her parents in 1933. She attended schools in Emmett where during her senior year she worked in the school library for $8.00 a month. She was graduated from Emmett High School in 1940 and married her sweetheart, Wilbur Currier. They had three children.

Patricia and Wilbur lived in the Emmett and Boise areas where he was employed by the Bureau of Reclamation. While Wilbur served in the Navy during World War II, she was hired by the State of Idaho to work in the Law Enforcement Department. Later when the family lived at Division Dam east of Boise she was employed by the Idaho Military Department in the Adjutant Generals Office. When they returned to Emmett she worked for the Department of Health.

Patricia was baptized into the Presbyterian faith as a small child and was a lifelong member of that faith. She was a member of Eastern Star, a past worthy matron of Adah Chapter, Boise, and Iras Temple Daughters of the Nile. She belonged to the Gem County Historical Society. She was active in several civic organizations, and proud to say that she never missed an opportunity to vote as a Blue Girl in a Red State thereby supporting her political beliefs. She liked going to her high school class reunions and attended every one until her health prevented her attendance.

Traveling was an important part of Patricias life. She would study maps and soon they were going to some new place. Many wonderful winters were spent in Arizona and new friends were made each year. Happy times were spent on the deck at Cascade with family members eating dinner together and doing lots of laughing. A memorable family event was a trip to the Oregon coast to celebrate Pat and Wilburs 60th wedding anniversary.

Patricia was an avid reader throughout her life. In later years when her eyesight failed she started listening to audio books. The employees of the Eagle and Boise Public Libraries sought out books from everywhere to provide reading material for her. She loved reading about history and was always eager to learn some new facts.

Patricia loved to have her hair and nails done. Karen at Rose Hill Beauty Salon and Lain at Hillcrest Assisted Living kept her looking pretty.

After her husband Wilbur passed away she took over the care of the much loved Jack Russell terriers. When she was no longer able to stay in her home Patricia moved to Heatherwood Retirement Center. She made new friends. As her health failed along with loss of hearing and vision she moved to Hillcrest Assisted Living where she once again made new friends. Going to Dave and Leah Morgans home for family potluck dinners was one of her favorite things to do.

Family was most important to Patricia and she loved every member of her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur; her parents; and a brother Doyle. Patricia is survived by two daughters, Geri Powers and her husband Norm; Bonnie Lindgren and her husband, Lynn; and a son, Kenneth Currier and his wife, Kathleen. Her grandchildren are Michael and Jess Bollinger, Kara Kube, and Candi Currier. Great grandchildren are Savanna and Bailey Bollinger and Cassidy, Craye, and Casey Porter. She is survived by two sisters, Leola Lucas and Berna Deanne Morgan. Karen Riggs was a special friend to Patricia and Wilbur and the whole family for many years.

The family wants to thank the staff at Hillcrest Assisted Living for the loving and special care given to our mother. She loved seeing the people in the dining room and sharing a special moment. Jessica Carreno and her children gave joy to our mother as well as comfort to the family. The staff at St. Lukes was wonderful to our mother and very kind and considerate to our family. We greatly appreciate Dr. Case, the nurses, and the sitters who made mom comfortable in her last hours.

The family requests in lieu of flowers a memorial be made to a favorite charity. She will be greatly missed by her family and remain in their hearts forever.
