Patricia Steiner Obituary Patricia Kay Steiner of Melba, Idaho was born on November 10, 1943 in Muskegon, Michigan to Ernest and Roberta Olsen. God called His faithful servant, Pat, home on the evening of Wednesday October 2, 2024 at the age of 80.
Pat spent her youngest years living in Michigan. In 1955 her family moved across the country to Escondido, California. Pat graduated from Escondido High School in 1962. Soon after graduation, her family moved to La Habra, California, where she attended Fullerton Junior College and graduated with a degree as a medical transcriptionist.
Shortly after high school graduation, Pat met a handsome young Marine from Camp Pendleton, named Russ Steiner, in the parking lot of Emmanual Faith Baptist Church. After her family moved away from Escondido, her future husband did not believe her when she told him their new house was on Russell Street. Russ and Pat were married on June 18, 1966. Their family grew to include their children Pam and Eric, and eventually their spouses. Pats heart became even larger when her four grandchildren Rachel, Lauren, Emma and Joshua came along. In
Russ and Pat spent their entire marriage serving God in churches and communities throughout California, Hawaii and Idaho. Pat worked tirelessly alongside Russ in every area of ministry he was involved in. In their early marriage, there were countless youth events, camping trips, mission trips to help plan and cook for. Later on, she loved teaching children in Sunday School, the church nursery, after school programs and Vacation Bible School. Pat was an expert hostess. Organizing church social events, and family holidays brought her so much joy. She most definitely had a gift for making everyone feel welcomed and loved. After Russs retirement, she was honored to continue serving God with him as he served as an interim pastor for several local churches.
Sharing her love for God and the message of salvation was not limited to the walls of the church building. Serving God was at the heart of Pats life. She dedicated her time to being a stay-at-home mom and raising her children. She also found many ways to be active in the communities in which she lived, from teaching preschool to babysitting, her involvement almost always included children and hospitality. "Grandma Pat" cared deeply for the many Melba families she babysat for the Pugmire, Woodall, and Dickard families; Anna, Allie and Andrew Herman; Cindy Reed; Mallory and Lemont Lincoln; and Kali and Kodi Adams. She was also active on the Ada County Election Board for Melba, the Melba Community Auction Committee, and the Melba Elementary School PTA for several years. She loved being able to attend the Melba High School and Nampa High School ball games that Russ announced. One of her latest joys was the internet - she learned how to watch church services and ball games on tv at home. But even more than that, she cherished your visits, phone calls and cards over the past few years since dad passed away. Thank you for loving on our mom.
Pat is survived by her daughter and family Pam, Wayne, Rachel Davis of Nampa, Idaho and Colt and Lauren Gosse of Emmett, Idaho; her son and family Eric, Jennifer, Emma and Joshua Steiner of Nampa, Idaho; her sister-in-law Lorie Olsen of Fairview, Utah; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Gladys Steiner of Rockville, Maryland; many cousins, and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Russ; her parents Ernie and Roberta Olsen; and her brother David Olsen.
