Obituary

Patricia Earleen Thomas Strickler, 88, of Nampa, passed away on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013. Daughter of Earle and Veda Thomas, Patricia was born on July 1, 1925 in Blue Springs, Nebraska. Her father owned a pharmacy. Her family moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1933 where Patricia graduated from Lincoln Central High School. She attended the University of Nebraska. She met Elmo E. Strickler and they were married Oct. 6, 1946 in Lincoln. She graduated from the University in 1948 and worked for the Nebraska Game, Forestation and Parks Commission, and the University of Nebraska Bookstore. After Elmos graduation in 1950 they moved to Hastings, Nebraska where their son Timothy was born on June 25, 1951. Elmo took an engineering position with Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, Oklahoma where their daughter Jennifer was born on April 22, 1953. They moved to Nampa, Idaho in 1986 to be near their children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, DESA Navy conventions, Strickler Family Reunions and many activities involving the grandchildren. Patricia was a lifetime member of the Nebraska University Alumni and Ladies Auxiliary of Destroyer Escort Sailors Association. Patricia is survived by her husband Elmo Strickler of 67 years; her brother Rod and Barbara Thomas of Lexington, SC; one nephew, two nieces and families; two children and their families, Son Timothy (Debbie) Strickler of Nampa, ID, Daughter Jennifer (Earl) McCollough of Caldwell, ID; 7 grandchildren, Adam (Iris) Strickler, Rebecca Strickler, Johanna (Josh) Lowry, Amber Strickler, Lacey Strickler, Heather Barr and Alison (Kelly) Hobbs; 10 Great Grandchildren, Luke Lowry, Ilia Strickler, Blake McCollough, Julian Cossel, Jaiden Barr, Tristan Barr, Ethan Sickinger, Mia Sickinger, Jaired Riddle and Ivie Riddle A viewing will be held for family and friends on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013 at the Southside United Methodist Church, Nampa. A private burial will be held in the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, Boise.
