Our mom, Patricia Ann Tippets was a woman who enjoyed life. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, artist, knitter and explorer of the outdoors, but her focus was her family and her ever present faith in God. She was born April 5, 1932 in Pomona California, she learned to model her faith from her parents, Mildred and Al Kideney. She and her mother shared a close lifetime friendship; they were best friends. Her older sister, Mary, passed away at 11. It's comforting to know that she has now been reunited with her mom and dad and her sister in heaven. Mom married our dad, Rick at the young age of 19, and began their life together in Victorville Calif. Mom's love of family expanded over the next decade as she added her four children. Mom became involved in her church and began the process of passing her faith on to us. She volunteered in the community and enjoyed a close group of friends who gathered monthly to play canasta, gossip and eat snacks. The Piercy home was a welcoming place for the neighborhood kids and many summer days were filled with kids enjoying the family swimming pool. As in all lives, hardships come. At the age of 44, mom endured a radical mastectomy for breast cancer. But, because of Gods love and grace in her life, her beauty never diminished nor her faith in Him. Mom and dad divorced soon after. She fulfilled a lifetime dream of living by the beach in San Clemente spending many hours strolling on the beach searching for shells, beach glass and rocks. After several years, Mom returned to the desert and in 1981 married longtime family friend, Bud Tippets. After their marriage she was able to fulfill another dream by opening a yarn shop, the Yarn Spinner. With her warm, friendly personality, she developed wonderful friendships through her love of knitting, a hobby that she enjoyed throughout her life. Mom and Bud enjoyed 35 years of marriage, spending many hours exploring the southern California, Nevada and Arizona deserts. In 1995 they moved to Idaho to be closer to her daughter, Laurie. They both loved the beauty of Idaho. They were campground hosts in Stanley for several summers enjoying the beautiful Sawtooth mountains and indulging in their love of exploring. They spent many summers with friends at SISCRA campground in Cascade as well. Bud, as repairman and mom volunteer fundraiser and self-appointed greeter. She also loved being a school volunteer working with elementary children; a job she had enjoyed during her years in the desert. Mom's life was enriched by the addition of 15 grandchildren, which just expanded the family that she loved so much. She always enjoyed times spent with her adult children and their families. In March of 2011, she suffered her first stroke and her final years were plagued with stroke related dementia. Eventually it was necessary for her to move into assisted living. The family would like to thank the compassionate caregivers at Park Place Assisted Living who so lovingly cared for her. Mom leaves behind those she loved so much and who loved her, Husband Bud Tippets; children. Rick (Linda) Piercy, Chris (Roberta) Piercy, Laurie (Randy) Haverfield, David (Deanna) Piercy, step-children Amy (Neil) Zimney, Jill (Jim) Fine and Tom (Ruth) Tippets. Her grandchildren, Carrie (Dave), Mandy (Brian), Scott (Corine), Kelli (Josh), Shawn (Marie), Kathryn, Leslie, Christopher and Lisa (Justin). Step-grandchildren; Whitney (Randy), Vanessa (Nick), Derek (Taylor), Sarah (Carlos), Michelle (Alex), as well as 20 great grandchildren. What a legacy! A celebration of her life and home going will be held at the Nampa First Church of the Nazarene, 601 16th Ave. So., Nampa 83651 on Tuesday, April 19th at 11:00 am.
