An online guest book may be signed at www.nampafuneralhome.com Pat was born October 28, 1933 in a small house in Vale, Oregon to Eldon and Josephine Palmer. He spent his entire life in his beloved community of Vale. He was raised with his brothers, Lloyd, Chuck, and Don and attended elementary and high schools in Vale. He graduated from Vale Union High School in May of 1953. Immediately after high school, Pat enlisted in the United States Navy. He served at the end of the Korean conflict aboard the USS Bremerton. On April 16, 1955, he came home on leave to marry his childhood sweetheart, Wanda Wheeler. They were married for 58 years and produced four daughters who were the pride of Pats life. After his term of military service, Pat returned to Vale and worked for the Bureau of Land Management as a firefighter. He later worked for his brother Lloyd at the Conoco service station in Vale. In the late 60s and 70s, Pat became the local delivery man of milk products when he was employed by Home Dairies out of Ontario, Oregon. He enjoyed visiting and talking with his customers and always greeting them with his large smile. When Home Dairies stopped their residential delivery, Pat became employed by Simplot Soil Builders in their fertilizer application process. Pat continued to work for Simplot until his retirement in 1995. Pat enjoyed hunting and fishing in his early years, but when medical conditions caused him to give those things up, he did what he did best, love his kids and grandkids. Pats home was never a place where you were felt unwelcome. Anyone was always welcome and Pat and Wanda would do anything for you. He raised his daughters with love and made it a point to show and tell them how much he loved them every day. When the grandchildren started arriving, it made Pat even happier. He loved it when you brought "his babies" to see him. There will be a large void in not seeing his infectious smile, but the love that he shared will be with us forever. Pat is survived by his wife Wanda of Vale; brother Lloyd (Lois) Palmer of Vale; brother Don (Norma) Palmer of Meridian, ID; sister-in-law Vella Palmer of Eagle, ID; sister-in-law Sharon (Lee) Brooks of Meridian, ID; his children, Tina (Bill) Yraguen of Boise, ID; Terri (Chris) Hampson of Beaverton, OR; Toni (Tom) Snook of Vale; Traci (CJ) Rumsey of Sandy, UT; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren with a special 10th on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, Pat asked that contributions be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars at P.O. Box 8911 in Topeka, KS 66608-8911
