Paul Robert Walters, 73, was born in Burley, Idaho, on May 4, 1940 to Robert Franklin Walters and Myrl Almira Whitesides Walters. He passed away on December 10, 2013, in Nampa, Idaho, surrounded by his loving family.
His family moved to Nampa when he was 2 years old. He attended Nampa public schools and graduated from Nampa High School. Paul was a long-time employee at the Amalgamated Sugar Company from which he retired in 1996. He served in the National Guard from 1963 to 1969. He married Karen Jacobsen on August 22, 1963, and this year they celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with their sons and their families. After retiring, Paul enjoyed being with his family and welcoming five grandchildren. He derived great pleasure from shooting at the Homedale Rod and Gun Club, motorcycling, and fishing with his sons and friends. He survived a motorcycle/deer accident in 2005 and was right back riding the next summer.
Paul's greatest joy came from being with his family. He had many wonderful memories from vacations on the Oregon coast, at Sun River, Disney World, Ketchum, Wallowa Lake, the Grand Canyon, and Virginia City, Nevada. Paul enjoyed camping in the Sawtooth Mountains. He and his sons took many motorcycle trips and fished at Henry's Lake, on the Missouri River, and on the south fork of the Boise River.
His parents, grandparents, a brother, John Franklin, a niece, Catherine Berg, and his sister-in-law, Kathy Jacobsen Lattimer preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Karen, his son Paul and his wife Christina, their daughters, Tessa and Kaitlin; and by his son David and his wife, Amy, their daughters Sydney and Sophie, and son Jack, all of Meridian. Paul is also survived by his sisters and their husbands: Kathryn and Milt Greenwood, Nampa; Linda and Ed Berg, Pierce; and Susan and Richard Fuller, Boise. He is survived by three nephews and their wives: Milton (Bonnie) Greenwood, Nampa; Robert (Sheri) Greenwood, Twin Falls; Eddie (Kylie) Berg, Post Falls; and two nieces, Sushanah Boston of Portland and Kristin (John) Kelly, Caldwell. There are numerous cousins and great and great-great nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Friday, December 13, at Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. A celebration of Paul's life will be held there at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2013. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
