Margaret M. "Peggy" Townsend, 91, of Nampa, Idaho and formerly of Salem, Oregon, passed away peacefully at a Nampa care facility. She was born on July 1, 1919 in Salem, South Dakota to Charles and Blanche Welsh Kirby. She was raised and educated in South Dakota and moved to Oregon in 1942. She married Joseph Krueger in 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1965. She married Donald Townsend in 1970.

She worked for 30 years as a nurse for the Oregon State Hospital as a charge aide.

She belonged to the Willamette Agate and Mineral Society, the Captial Carvers and St. Vincents Catholic Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Margo J. Lootens of Nampa, ID; a step son, James Townsend of Portland, OR; a step son Steve Townsend of Ellensburg, WA; her sister, Rose Anna Curtis of Austin, TX; a brother Thomas Kirby of Rapid City, SD; a brother Richard Kirby of Mitchell, SD; a sister Patricia Mader of Renner, SD; a sister, Janet Arens of Box Elder, SD; three grandchildren, Heather Lawson of Alaska, Mary Catherine Johnson of Lewiston, ID and Andrea Wise of Nampa, ID; and six great grandchildren.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. Monday, May 30, 2011 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Melba, ID. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Interment will be in the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR.
