Phebe "Eileen" McGuire Shelley, 87, of Boise, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 surrounded by her family. Eileen was born on June 20, 1926 in Wilson, Owyhee Co., Idaho to O.J. and Rose Alaska Cox McGuire. She was raised and educated in Wilson and graduated from Melba High School in 1945. She started working as an operator for Mountain States Telephone Co. in 1946. She was proud to have been the chief operator when the first telephone service in Melba opened in 1948. She married Richard B. "Dick" Shelley on March 27, 1948. Eileen was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker for many years, living in Caldwell, Payette and Nampa. She was an active member and volunteer at Payette, Star and Caldwell Christian Churches. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Owyhee County Historical Society. She returned to work from 1976 to 1980 at the Elderly Assistance ECHO in Nampa. Her greatest joy in her later years was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Janie Raynor and husband, Dan of Boise and their children, daughter Carissa Barron and husband, Josh and their children, Josh and Preston, son, Luke Raynor; her son, Rick Shelley and wife, Linda of Gig Harbor, WA and their children, Micah, Lacey and Brett; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick in 2000; an infant son; her parents; her sisters, Marie, Lydia and Julia; and a brother, John. Eileen requested that memorial contributions be made to The Christian Childrens Ranch, 2421 W. A viewing and visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. She will be interred next to her husband at the Wilson Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. following the services.
