Phyllis Ashley Horton Arnold was born on February 10, 1932 in Santa Barbara, California to Roger and Carmalita Mendez Horton. Phyllis passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014 in Nampa, Idaho. Phyllis spent all her last days at home being cared for by her loving husband Melvin Arnold and son Steven Arnold. Phyllis had been provided care by St. Alphonsus Hospice and passed away at Trinity Mission of Midland. Phyllis is survived by her husband Melvin Arnold of Nampa; son Steven Arnold (Sandy) of Greenleaf; sisters Nancy Little (Orville) of Clovis, CA and Betty Lahey of Arizona; brother Mike Ramsey of Reno, NV; grandsons Darrel, Tyler, Mike (Shelly) and Zak; and great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her son David Arnold of Peoria, AZ. Phyllis worked for the Dept of Defense in Herlong, Ca for 35 years, retiring to Nampa, ID in 1987. She was a member of the Mercy Medical Center Auxilliary from 1987 to 2001. She was also a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church and was a special minister for Communion for homebound, nursing and retirement homes. A funeral Mass will be celebrated to honor her life at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the St. Pauls Catholic Church in Nampa. A private family interment will be held in the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, Boise. Services are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel.
