Phyllis Jean Clark (Perringer), 81, of Nampa, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011 due to acute kidney failure. She was born February 17, 1930 in Port Washington, Wisconsin to George and Alice Perringer.
After serving for over a year in the Woman Army Corps (WACs) in her early 20s, Phyllis moved to Idaho where she worked at Mountain Home Air Force Base. Through her job, she met Donald Robert Clark whom she married on July 17, 1956 to begin their 55 year long love story. Together, Don and Phyllis had eight children. Michael Clark (Momi) of Honolulu, HI; Cynthia Collingham (Don) of Boise, ID; Teresa Gallegos (Kenny) of Boise, ID; Mary Barinaga (Joe) of Boise, ID; Robert Clark of Nampa, ID; Roberta LaShelle (Brett) of Bozeman, MT; Sandra Howard (Mike) of Wylie, TX; Thomas Clark (Gayla) of Caldwell, ID; and step-daughter Jonee Earl (Ben) of Laguna Beach, CA. Phyllis was also a much loved grandmother of 21, great-grandmother of 11, cousin, aunt and friend. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Phyllis accompanied her husband during his military career to numerous locations including Nebraska, Libya, California, Mississippi and Hawaii, before returning to Idaho as their permanent home. Phyllis was always a hard worker, in and out of the home, working for many federal agencies for more than 30 years.
She loved any time she had with family and friends. Phyllis was active in the Nampa Elks Auxiliary. Some of her favorite pastimes were fishing, golfing, sewing, going to bingo night and playing games. Phyllis was an adventurer who enjoyed traveling and she visited many places including New Zealand, Russia, Germany, Greece, Panama, Alaska and numerous trips to Hawaii.
Phyllis contributed something to every life she touched, and although she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her, she passes on a legacy of kindness and grace that will live on for generations. If you were her husband, you had her devotion, truth, courage. If you were her child, you were taught unconditional love, compassion for all things, and encouragement for whatever path you chose. If you were her friend you received her straight talk, wonderful smile, feisty spirit, and her loving heart.
A memorial service in celebration of her life, followed by a luncheon, will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at the Nampa Elks Lodge, 1116 1st St. South, Nampa, ID. An Internment will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2011 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 N. Horseshoe Bend Rd., Boise, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Elks Rehabilitation Hospital or a charity of your choice.
