Phyllis Jean Henry, 94, of Nampa, passsed away on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015 at a Nampa retirement center. A graveside service will be held in Shannon City, Iowa.
She was born on April 11, 1921 in Portland, Oregon to John Leroy Mogenson and Anna Christiansen Mogenson. She was raised and educated in Astoria, Oregon. She married Warren D. Henry in 1950. He had earned lifetime licensures in dairy manufacturing and worked at the family creamery in Prineville, Oregon. Later the Henrys returned to college and seminary and he became an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA). They served in churches in Mount Vernon, OR, Umatilla, OR, Burns, OR and Essex, Iowa. Rev. Henry died in 1971 and Phyllis returned to the Oregon area and resumed her education. She worked in the Medical field until taking an early retirement.
She was a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Church with membership in the First United Presbyterian Church in Nampa. Through the years she was active in many areas of the church program including music, childrens work, junior choirs and womens work including Eastern Oregon Presbyterial and three years as Treasurer of PW of Cascades Presbytery. She also served as a church treasurer for several years. She was an Ordained Elder and served as Clerk of Session for several years. She was a member of the American Association of Medical Assistants and a sixty-year member of Alpha Iota International Business Honorary.
She is survived by a son, Rev. Dr. John S. Henry and wife, Pamela of Nampa, Idaho
