Obituary

Phyllis Pridgen Obituary Phyllis Jean (Rodes) Pridgen entered heaven on January 31, 2024, following a short 5 week battle with cancer. She spent her final weeks surrounded by friends and family, laughing, sharing stories, singing her favorite cowboy songs, and singing praises to her Savior. Phyllis was born on March 16, 1934, to Arno and Grace Rodes in Clovis, New Mexico. She was the youngest of three children. Phyllis was a very active girl and loved sharing stories about her adventures with her great grandchildren. When she was 19 years old, she met U.S. Air Force sergeant Ezzie (Eddie) Pridgen when he was stationed at Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis. He proposed in 1953, right before he was deployed to Germany. Six months later, she flew 5,000 miles to marry him, just 2 weeks shy of her 20th birthday. They were married until he passed away in 2018. Phyllis and Eddie had three children, Mark, Blake, and Jeannie. These children were the joy of their lives. Soon after Ezzie retired from the Air Force in 1967, the Pridgen family settled in Aurora, Colorado, where they had countless adventures, made wonderful friends, and lived life to its fullest. Phyllis favorite adventures included trips to visit friends and family across the country. She especially loved traveling with her lively and outgoing brother Ronald and his wife Alberta. In 2017, Phyllis and Eddie moved to Idaho to be closer to family. Through her later years, Phyllis maintained the active lifestyle she began as a young girl. She went on a mission trip to Mexico at 80, a trip to Israel at 86, family church camp at 88, and continued to climb over canals and walk to the grocery store at 89. Her outgoing personality and joyful spirit were second to none. Her grandchildren still lovingly refer to her as their "crazy grandma." Her prayer for everyone she knew, but especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, was that they would always love and serve Jesus. She was preceded in death.by pretty much everyone, but is survived by her son Mark (Ruth) Pridgen, son Blake (Marilyn) Pridgen, daughter Jeannie Pridgen, grandchildren Danielle (Zach) Dwello, Katie (Mike) Pridgen-Lopez, Laura (Johnny) VanDerschaaf, Christine (Drew) Plett, Steven (Laurel) Pridgen, Keith (Sara) Pridgen, and Brian Pridgen. Her great grandchildren, Jordyn, Clayton, Rustin, Brooklyn, Hannah, Jake, Jonathan, Micah, Lucy, Dorothy, Griffin, and Charlotte were the joy of her life, along with numerous nieces and nephews. We praise Jesus that she left her family with such wonderful memories and such a powerful Christian heritage. We will always love you, Grammy.
