Obituary

Ralph Oberst 1925 2013 Ralph William Oberst, 88, passed away from natural causes on October 9, 2013, at Karcher Estates, Nampa, Idaho. Ralph was born in Washington, Indiana to Clarence and Pearl Hamilton Oberst on April 14, 1925. The family moved to Idaho when Ralph was four years old. Ralph attended St. Paul's Catholic School until the eighth grade, graduated from Nampa High School and from the College of Idaho. Ralph served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Ralph married Barbara Clements on June 1, 1951 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Nampa, Idaho. Ralph and Barbara raised their five children in Boise, Idaho. Ralph worked for the Idaho Power Company until his retirement. Ralph was active in activities at the Sunrise Sky Park where Ralph and Barbara moved after Ralph's retirement to pursue Ralph's passion for flying and building airplanes. Ralph also enjoyed woodworking, traveling with Barbara and reading. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, parents, Clarence and Pearl Hamilton Oberst, brother, Joseph M. Oberst, son, Richard William Oberst and granddaughter, Christina Marie Buchanan. He is survived by his daughters Julie (Kurt) Wiles and Janet Buchanan, sons Kelly, Michael and John Oberst, his grandchildren, Lara Wiles, Matthew and Michael Buchanan, and Veronica and Kelly Oberst, his sister Delores Oberst Wiggs and brother, Homer Oberst. The family would like to thank the staff at Karcher Estates for the loving care they gave Ralph during his lengthy stay. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30 P.M. Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 504 Randolph Rd., Melba. A viewing will be held in the Parish Hall prior to the Mass from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Ralph will be laid to rest next to Barbara in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Nampa following the Mass. Services are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. An online guest book may be signed at www.nampafuneralhome.com In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest donations in Ralph's name to the Warhawk Air Museum, 201 Municipal Drive, Nampa, Idaho 83687.
