Ray E, Thompson, 86, of Nampa, Idaho, passed away on November 23, 2013 at home in the company of his loving family.
He was born on Nov. 14, 1927 in Valentine, Nebraska, to Raymond C. Thompson and Viola Holbrook. They moved to Nampa from Valentine during the depression, his father was killed in an automobile accident in 1943. He lived with his Grandmother Belle Thompson and spent summers working on the farm of Walt and Echo Borchert his special aunt (Sis) and uncle.
Ray lived in Nampa from the time he was a child until his passing. He attended school in Nampa and graduated from Nampa High School in 1945. He joined the Army and was deployed to Alaska, and was honorably discharged and returned to Nampa and began working for the PFE (Ice Plant) where he continued to work for 42 years until his retirement.
He married Marie Proesch of Melba on June 4, 1949, his wife of 64 years. This union created a loving family of 8 children, Mike and Martha (Prater) Thompson, 2 children Dennis, Kim, Jack and Robin (Yowell) Thompson, 6 children Sam, Tyler, Pete, Joe, Gus, Rory, Ron Thompson, 2 children Scott, April, Anita and Chuck Wardwell, 3 children Taylor, Dillon, Carter, Tammy and Mike Farrell, 2 children Carly, Drew, Bruce Thompson 2 children, Amber, Levi, Brian Thompson, Diane and Paul Bull, 4 children, Hailey, Logan, Mason, Ryker, and 21 Grandchildren, 27 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild.

Brooklynn Thompson, Sage Thompson, Olivia Thompson, Sophia Thompson, Ella Thompson, Molly Thompson, Beatrice Thompson, Henry Thompson. Wyat Thompson, Kasey Thompson, Morgan Thompson, Colleen Thompson. Ivy Thompson. Stanley Horn, Bailey Horn, Keaton Horn, Campbell Horn. Megan Storebo, Sydney Storebo. He is survived by his Wife Marie, 8 children, Mike & Martha Thompson, Jack & Robin Thompson, Ron Thompson, Anita & Chuck Wardwell, Tammy & Mike Farrell, Bruce Thompson, Brian Thompson, Diane & Paul Bull, 21 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, Aunt Echo Borchert, many cousins and 2 sisters Delores Merkel, Lova Miller, 3 nieces Sinda, Debbie, Jimmy Sue.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Vicky, and grandson Scott Thompson.
He was a loving Husband, Father and Grandfather. His family was his life, and he worked hard and loved harder than any man we know. He made friends everywhere he went. He was very easy to love. He hunted and fished with the same passion he did everything else. Ray was a jack of all trades, pool shooting, builder, welder, hunting, fishing, teaching us how to love, work, play. He helped all his friends and family with most of their needs. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 1389 for 44 years, and a Member of NARVE.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013 at the Nampa Funeral Home Yraguen Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013 at St. Pauls Catholic Church, (New) 510 W. Roosevelt Ave., Nampa. Burial will follow in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Nampa. A reception will follow the burial at the Elks Lodge 1116, 1st St. So., Nampa at approximately 1:30 pm.
