Obituary

Richard Victor "Dick" Keim, 75, entered into eternal rest on Wed. Oct. 30, 2013 at his home in Nampa, Idaho. Dick was born Sept. 24, 1938 to Richard Victor Keim, Sr. and Minnie Edgecomb Keim. He was born into a rich family heritage of HH Keim Meat packing and Willowdale Farms. HH Keim Co. was founded by his grandfather, Howard Henry Keim in 1916. Dick graduated from Nampa HS in 1956 where he was an outstanding athlete. That same year Dick entered McPherson College in Kansas, another family tradition. On June 22, 1957 Dick married Elizabeth"Betty" Moore, his high school sweetheart from Caldwell. Just as his finals at McPherson were completed and the couple was preparing to move back to Idaho Betty gave birth to their 1st child, Tobin Michael. After moving back to Nampa, Dick continued his college days at the College of Idaho, playing football for Babe Brown. He then carried on in the family business eventually becoming general manager of HH Keim, Co. Dick and Betty welcomed three more children to complete their family. After the sale of the family business Dick & Betty moved to Sparks, NV where he managed Nugget Meat Co. for John Ascuaga. Upon retirement in 2004 Dick & Betty returned to Nampa to spend time with family and friends. They enjoyed many years at the family cabin in McCall, playing golf, traveling and looking forward to their next adventure. Dick held various community positions during his years in Nampa. He was a member of the Nampa School Board, President of Broadmore Country Club, Director of National Meat Packers Assoc., a member of Idaho Cattlemans Assoc, Rotary Club in Nampa and Sparks, NVa member of Lions Club, Elks Club Nampa, Supporter/Contributor of the Shriners Hospital Supporter/Contributor to building Centennial Golf Course, Football/Basketball Idaho High School Assoc referee and was inducted into the Football Referee Hall of Fame. During his tenure on the school board he was instrumental in the addition of Sunnyridge Elementary school and implementing provisions for Title IX. Dick was preceded in death by his parents Richard & Minnie Keim, sisters Margaret Keim Goering and Elizabeth Nelson. Dick is survived by his one true love Betty; his children and spouses Tobin & Evy Keim of Cologne, MN, Julie Cronin of Nampa, Todd & Sheila Keim of Goodyear, AZ and Nampa, and Richard Victor Keim III of Caldwell; Brothers Robert (Sybil) Keim of Arizona, and George (Sandy) Keim of Virginia Beach, VA. He was Papa and Great Papa to 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. A memorial reception will be held on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at the Broadmore Country Club, Nampa. Final care for Dick has been entrusted to Nampa Funeral Home Yraguen Chapel.
