Richard Dale Murphy-Sweet, 78, of Nampa, passed away on July 21, 2014, of natural causes. Richard was born, March 30, 1936, to Francis Jr. and Tonia Murphy. He was raised in Portland, Oregon. He was a military veteran of the Army, Navy, and Marine corps, during his service in the Marine Corp he served in the Vietnam War. He later married Mary Ellen Williams, and to this union, 5 children were born. Richard and Mary raised their children in Caldwell, Idaho and later divorced. Richard remained in the Caldwell area and was an active member of the community, volunteering at St. Marys Catholic Church, and West Valley Medical Center. He is survived by his children, Elizabeth Murphy-Sweet, Arthur (Maria) Murphy-Sweet, Anona Nonie (David) Gonelli, Michael (Jenny) Murphy-Sweet, 13 grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother, and his son, Commander Philip Murphy-Sweet.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 25, 2014 at St. Pauls Catholic Church, 510 W. Roosevelt Ave., Nampa. A private family burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Nampa.
