Obituary

Richard Rea Obituary Richard Garland Rea passed away peacefully at his home, on November 20, 2023 at the age of 79, while enjoying activities he loved to do. Richard was born in Boise, ID and raised in Mountain Home where he graduated high school. He served our country in the Vietnam War as a US Army Radioman and received a purple heart. After the war, he made his home in Nampa, ID where he worked and supported his family. His leadership earned him a management position at Nestle where he retired from. Richard is survived by his sister Louise; his children Bobbi, Chana, John, Soni and many adored grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Richard was proud of all his children and wanted nothing more than the best for them. The war had a traumatic effect on Richard both physically, as he lost his leg, and emotionally. From his pain he formed a deeply held belief that all people are deserving of dignity and respect regardless of differences. He sought to instill this value in his children and all he met. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Richard. He loved the outdoors and was an avid sportsman. He passed his love for all things outdoors to his children, where he preferred to spend his time. He never failed to mention the beauty in something as grand as a mountain silhouette or as modest as a lone weathered tree. Richard was always in pursuit of living a storied life through his adventures. He could get lost within his imagination and affinity for the old west. Richard spent hours on end reading, watching, and collecting art on the subject, while being a self-proclaimed mountain man. His wishes were to be cremated and a small private ceremony with military honors will be held on December 7 th at noon, at Nampa Funeral Home Yraguen Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to your local veterans association in Richardss name. Services Funeral Service Thursday December 7, 2023 12:00 PM Nampa Funeral Home 415 12th Ave. So.
