Robert Loren "Bob" Akovenko, 77, of Nampa, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010 in a Boise care center. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, Nov. 8, 2010 at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell. Military rites will be performed by the United States Air Force. Services are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel.
He was born on August 30, 1933 in Tensleep, Wyoming to Alex and Helen Linblom Akovenko. As a young boy he moved with his family to Marsing, Idaho where he attended school for his first five years and then moved to Nampa and finished his schooling, graduating from Nampa High School in 1951.
He served in the Idaho Air Guard and was activated into the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He married Norma Roesberry in 1960 and raised seven children between the two of them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Helen; one brother, Richard Akovenko; and his wife, Norma.
He is survived by a sister, Linda Averille; a brother, Tom Akovenko; a brother, Jack Pedersen; four sons, John Dewey, James Dewey, Steve Dewey and Jeff Akovenko; three daughters, Kathleen Dewey, Lori Chandler and Peggy Lash; 21 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
