Robert Eugene Fischer October 3, 1933 January 30, 2017 Bob passed away peacefully at the age of eighty-three in Nampa, Idaho surrounded by his wife Claudia, daughter Charlene and sons Steve and Wayne. His twin brother Bill who lives in Greenriver, Wyoming also survives Bob. Bob and Bill were born in Orange, California to George and Phyllis Fischer. He lived in California, Tennessee, Colorado, and eventually spent most of his life in southern Idaho. Bob received his Metallurgical Engineering Degree from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado in 1956. It was during this time that he met lifelong partner, Claudia, in Lakewood, Colorado. This past June, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Bobs career started in Grand Junction, Colorado. He moved quickly to working for J.R. Simplot in Idaho where Bob was busy with mining operations for over 35 years. While with J.R. Simplot, the family started in Soda Springs, Idaho; in 1959 they moved to the Simplot mining camp of Conda, Idaho, and in 1967 the family moved to Pocatello. Later in Bobs career, and after the children had finished school, he and Claudia moved to Nampa, Idaho. In Nampa, Bob partially retired with his own business, Idamet, providing assay reports for local mining companies. In his free time, Bob enjoyed sports cars and motorcycles and was the President of the Rocky Mountain Sports Car Club in Colorado where he and Claudia drove rallies throughout the western states. While in Idaho, Bob fell in love with sailing and he even built his own 13-foot sailboat in the family garage. He later owned other sailboats that he sailed on various lakes throughout the region. Bobs love for machines and wind eventually took him to the skies. In the early 80s, he learned to fly small single engine planes at the Pocatello airport. Bob was also always up for travel too and was able to visit all the western states, including Alaska and Hawaii; as well as Canada, Mexico, and England. Bob could fix anything. His "engineering" senses helped him throughout his professional career as well as create custom solutions around the house. Bobs life was full of fun. He left us with many lessons; laughs and he kept his sense of humor to the end. Bob is survived by his wife Claudia; children Charlene (John Nakata), Steve (Stephanie Fischer), and Wayne (Betty Miller); grandchildren Sequoia and Jackson; and his twin brother Bill. A celebration of his life will be held in the springtime at the family home.
