Robert Lane Kausen was called to Heaven on November 16, 2014. He was born on August 5, 1939 to Meredith and Blythe Kausen in Eureka, California. He lived there until he joined the U.S. Navy on April 29, 1958. He served until August 14, 1962. While honorably serving in the Navy, Bob was a fireman and a deep sea diver. Following his discharge from the service, he went to work for Pacific Gas and Electric as an equipment operator. He worked in several California locations but worked most of the time in Rio Vista, California. He retired after 33 years. During this time, he met and married Victoria Thomas Branson on August 1, 1986. Bob became stepfather to Jody (Jeff) Carpenter and Jenae (Mark) Delancy and grandfather to Cody Miller, Kalynn Carpenter, Ryan Carpenter, Justin Carpenter, Katherine Shillinsky, and Jared Shillinsky. Bob and Vicky moved to Lodi, Caifornia where he decided he wasn't quite ready for retirement life so he went to work for Cingular Wireless as a field supervisor. He worked there for 11 years before he was ready to be fully retired. In 2006, Bob and Vicky moved to Nampa, Idaho to enjoy their combined retirement years. They joined the Nampa First United Methodist Church where he found his Christian family. Throughout Bob's whole life, he enjoyed different aspects of photography. He held many interesting jobs such as aerial photographer, sprint car pit photographer and landscape photographer. He was always amazed over the beauty of God's creations whether it was the details in the sky or the tiniest drop of dew on a petal. A Memorial Service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at Nampa First United Methodist Church on Friday, November 21 at 10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Bob's name to the Wounded Warrior Project or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
