He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters; one grandson, Tyler Novak.
He was born in Lidgerwood, North Dakota on June 5, 1925 to Carl and Hazel Lee. When Bob was 12 years old, the family moved to Yakima, Washington to work in the orchards. When he was 16 years of age he moved to Nampa, Idaho to attend Nampa Christian Academy, where he graduated from high school. While at Nampa Christian Academy he roomed with his older brothers, LaMont and Byron. After graduation from the Academy at 17 years of age, he joined the Navy and served 3 years. Two of those years were spent on Manus Island as a radio man. Upon completion of the three years with the Navy, Bob returned to Nampa and attended Northwest Nazarene College for one year. He then transferred to College of Idaho where he played football, basketball and baseball. While playing on the baseball team at College of Idaho, Bob was asked by a scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates if he was interested in trying out for the team but he decided to pursue a career in education instead. During this time he met his wife, Ann Flynn. They were married August 28, 1948, and had six children, Christy, Claudia, Julie, David, Byron and Stacy.
After graduating from College of Idaho, he took his first teaching job in Kuna, Idaho as well as coaching basketball, football and baseball. Bob taught at Kuna for 11 years and then moved to Weiser, Idaho where he taught and coached basketball and football for 6 years. Bob and Ann purchased a ranch in Huntington, Oregon in 1962, and in that same year he completed his Masters Degree in School Administration. The family lived on their ranch six years and then moved to Cambridge, Idaho where Bob was Superintendent of Schools for 10 years. While in Cambridge, Bob and Ann bought another ranch and in 1978 Bob retired from education to become a full time rancher. In 1980, Bob and Ann moved to Emmett, Idaho where they lived for the next six years. At the end of those six years, they bought a farm between Nampa and Caldwell and lived there for 12 years until Bob retired from farming/ranching. During the time on the farm, Bob volunteered his time to coach the Nampa Christian girls varsity basketball team where he led them to the State tournament 3 different years.
Bob enjoyed teaching, playing and coaching athletics, and hunting. Most of all he enjoyed ranching. He was a member of the Nazarene church for 65 years and was a member of the church board at Weiser Church of the Nazarene. Bob was a man of deep conviction and strong faith and will be missed by all who knew him.
