Robert Reed Obituary Robert Edward Reed, Sr. passed peacefully from this life on December 28, 2022. Bob was born September 2, 1926, in Homedale, Idaho to Joe and Dollie Reed. Bob was raised in Vale, Oregon. On his 17th birthday in 1943, Bob joined the Navy for the war effort, serving on a destroyer, the USS Cassin Young, and served for the remainder of the war. After discharge from active duty, he returned to Vale and began his life-long career as a meat cutter. Bob met his wife Helen at a Saturday night dance at the Community Hall in Vale, Oregon. They were married September 7, 1947. They made their home in Vale where 4 of their 5 children were born, Robert Reed, Jr., Teresa (Reed) Smith, Tina (Reed) Helm, and Randy Reed. In 1963 they moved to Nampa where their 5th child, Stephanie (Reed) Herman was born. In 1972 they moved to Kuna and purchased the Kuna Mercantile. They resided in Kuna until their retirement in 2000 and then moved back to Nampa. Bob enjoyed work working and he and Helen were very involved in local bazaars for several years before spending 10 years hosting their own Christmas bazaar. Bob also greatly enjoyed gardening and bowling. He continued to bowl until just after his 91st birthday before giving it up. Bob was a member of the United Methodist church and served as an usher and head usher for nearly 6 decades. Bob was also a life-long Green Bay Packers fan. Bob continued to live in the Nampa home until the spring of 2021 when he moved to a retirement community and then to assisted living. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and his wife of nearly 70 years, Helen. He is survived by his five children, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Nampa, Idaho under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, Nampa, ID.
