Obituary

Roger Dean Edgington, 91, of Nampa, Idaho, passed away on March 2, 2013. A celebration of his life will be held at Nampa Funeral Home Yraguen Chapel on Wed. March 6 at 4 p.m. Rogers wishes were to be cremated and his ashes to be scattered. Roger was born in Mason City, Iowa on Feb 2, 1922. He was married to Naomi Delle on January 1, 1944; they were married for 23 years until her death in 1967. They had two sons Michael Dean (deceased), and Gary Lee. He later married Ruth "Skippy" Hickey. They were married for 26 years. Roger worked as a flooring contractor in Southern California and later as a cabinet builder. He owned two business during his career; first Rogers Flooring and later Surface Interiors. Roger was well known in the San Diego area for his fine craftsmanship. When Roger retired he enjoyed many hobbies to keep himself busy. He taught himself how to make quilts and later to crochets, making many shawls, scarves and blankets. Roger kept young by walking. He walked one to two miles a day with his walker even up to the end. Roger is survived by a son Gary Lee Edgington Sr, two step children, John Powell and Debbie Orecchio, two sisters Margaret Ackerman and Ruth Martin, five grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant son Michael, wife Naomi, wife Skippy, brothers Wilbur, Orvil, Merill, and Paul. The family wishes to thank Park Place Assisted Living for taking such good care of him these last few weeks.
