Obituary

Ronald Gene Ellis, 72, of Nampa, passed away at home on September 21, 2011. Ron was born on December 19, 1938, inNampa, Idaho, to Harry and Bessie Ellis. He was raised on the family farm and continued farming with his father and brother until he retired.

Ron met the love of his life, Garnet House, in the winter of 1959 and they were married the next May. He built Garnets dream home soon after, the first all electric house in the Treasure Valley.

From their union came three children, four granddaughters and 1 great grandchild. After 49 years of marriage, Ron and Garnet were still best friends and sweethearts. Ron and Garnet loved their earlier trips golfing in Pahrump, NV, and later on to Jackpot, NV, and golfing at Centennial with all of their friends. Ron and Garnet also had a big garden with lots of vegetables and glads and would sit in the shade near the garden and talk for hours.

Throughout his life, Ron was involved with the Future Farmers of America in school, the Army National Guard, Countrymans Club, the Elks and was quite a softball player and bowler. Ron was the type of guy that could do anything he set his mind to and had many hobbies and interests from cooking pounds of peanut brittle and caramel corn every Christmas that people counted on. Some of the many things Dad enjoyed and became very good at were woodworking, faceting gemstones, latch hooking, weaving chairs, feeding his quail (building a trap to trap sparrows to keep them from eating the quails food), and cracking hundreds of pounds of walnuts for friends. Dad was the type of guy that couldnt sit still and had to stay busy.

Ron worked hard all of his life on the family farm, taking care of and always putting his family first. He was also a true friend, always there for his friends whether they needed help with a project or just to stop by, sit around the kitchen table, visit, have a drink and hear a good dirty joke. Ron prided himself and enjoyed making people laugh and most always succeeded at it.

It is hard to put into so few words the life of such a good and honorable man who was loved and respected. Ron, Dad (Pop), Grandpa (Gramps), Great Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and Friend, we love you very much and you will be forever missed, but we know you are home now with your beloved Garnie.

He is survived by his brother Roger Ellis of Nampa, his three children, Cindy Moss of Nampa, Kim Ellis of Nampa, and Monty Ellis of Meridian; four granddaughters - Jennifer Patchett (Ben) of Nampa, Katie Vargas of Boise, Linsi Vargas of Boise and Heidi Vargas of Nampa; three great grandchildren - Daniel, Brooklyn and Jake Patchett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Garnet Ellis, and his parents, Harry and Bessie Ellis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011 at the Nampa Christian Faith Center, 31 S. Midland Blvd., Nampa. Burial will follow in the Cloverdale Memorial Park, Boise. Services are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. An online guest book may be signed at www.nampafuneralhome.com
